Julia Goldberg
VP, Facilities, Real Estate and Security
BuzzFeed

Julia is responsible for negotiating, designing and implementing BuzzFeed’s global real estate footprint, as well as managing day-to-day Facilities, Security and Studio Operations needs. Due to BuzzFeed’s explosive growth combined with a mutli-needs and multi-generational population, Julia was recently brought on to help with culturally on-point controlled and organized expansion. A proponent and innovator of the ‘Connected Space’ concept, which merges the physical and digital divide, Julia designs spaces that are technology-filled yet still human and supportive of BuzzFeed’s health and wellness goals in relation to physical space. Julia is currently creating a global “Kit of Parts” and forging key architect and design partner relationships in the process. As the company continues to expand, Julia is focused on bringing the Connected Space practice to life.

Prior to joining BuzzFeed, Julia worked at R/GA, a global design and consulting firm, and oversaw the build and occupancy of R/GA 200,000 sq. ft. NYC HQ, as well as subsequent Connected Space projects in London, São Paulo, Portland, Dubai, Tokyo, Berlin and Sydney.

Julia also installed the “Workplace” exhibition at the 2016 Venice Biennale, which showcases the innovative design and technology of our Connected Spaces. Directed by award-winning documentarian, Gary Hustwit, Workplace covers the past, present and future design of the workplace, with R/GA’s build at the center of the story. With over 25 years of experience in media firms, creative shops and advertising agencies, Julia began her career in IT and progressed to become CIO of Razorfish. After brief stint in private equity vetting progressive technologies and real estate transactions, she returned to the agency world to serve as Executive Director, Facilities and Operations for AKQA, overseeing the agency’s global real estate and building design footprint. She has a full command of the real estate and design/build lifecycle and has executed contract projects for clients ranging from Framestore to Nike to the Sheik of Dubai. Julia is a regular guest speaker at Workplace Strategy and Design summits and events.

Julia holds Bachelor’s degrees in both Advertising and Film from Boston University and continues to develop her keen interests in interactive and connected technologies, architecture, workplace design and travel.
