Ms. Payne is an equity owner and Director of Clarion Partners. She is the portfolio manager for the firm’s closed-end fund investments in Mexico as well as for a U.S.-focused separate account client. Ms. Payne joined the firm in 2003 and began working in the real estate and finance industries in 1997.

In overseeing the firm’s Mexico platform, Ms. Payne manages all acquisitions, asset management, dispositions, structuring, restructuring, arbitration and litigation activity in the country, where Clarion has invested $1 billion since 2006. Ms. Payne also manages separate account client investments exceeding $5 billion in assets under management in all major property types and markets throughout the United States.

Ms. Payne was previously a member of the firm’s acquisitions team, where she was responsible for prospecting, underwriting, structuring and executing acquisition opportunities in the Southeastern U.S. and Mexico. Ms. Payne was formerly also an associate in the firm’s asset management group, and assisted in the strategic and operational oversight of assets in the Northeastern U.S. with a total gross asset value in excess of $1.5 billion. Prior to joining Clarion, Ms. Payne was an associate in J.P. Morgan Chase’s Investment Bank, where she worked principally on mergers, acquisitions, restructurings, and lending transactions for the firm’s aerospace client base.

Ms. Payne is a magna cum laude graduate of Harvard College, from which she received a B.A. in 1997. She received an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School (“HBS”) in 2003, where she was a Robert Toigo Foundation (“RTF”) Fellow. Ms. Payne is fluent in Spanish.

Ms. Payne was a featured alumna in HBS’ 2013 “why do you do what you do?” portrait project honoring the 50th anniversary of women students at the school. That year she was also named one of the Toigo Foundation’s inaugural “40 Under 40”. She was recognized as one of Real Estate Forum Magazine’s “Women of Influence 2010” and has co-authored research articles published in relevant industry periodicals, including The Institutional Real Estate Letter and Inmobiliare Magazine. Ms. Payne serves on the board of the RTF Alumni Endowment; and is also a member of the Urban Land Institute, where she sits on the Commercial Retail Council and the Steering Committee of the Women’s Leadership Initiative.
