Claire Thielke, is COO – Investment Management of Hines Interests – a privately owned global real estate firm with 39 active institutional investment and REIT vehicles across 22 countries. Claire is also a lecturer at Stanford University, teaching on the intersection of technology, institutional investment, and real estate.

Within Hines, Claire manages the activities of the Investments & Performance Committee, has served on the firm’s Strategy Committee, and serves as an advisor to the Hines IT Steering Committee. She has also held positions in construction management for the Hines Southwest Region and investment management for the Hines Emerging Markets Funds.

Claire earned her undergraduate degree in Urban Planning and Design from Stanford University, graduating Phi Beta Kappa in 2.5 years as captain of the track and field team and Stanford BCSC Valedictorian.

After completing her Masters in Construction Management from Stanford’s Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering as the program’s youngest graduate, Claire continued on to earn her Degree of Engineer from Stanford’s Civil Engineering Ph.D Department in 2009, conducting dissertation research on green retrofitting and seismic upgrading for historic buildings. She has written numerous scholarly contributions on green building, city planning, adaptive reuse, and urban revitalization.

In her free time, Claire volunteers with arts, healthcare, and preservation non-profits through board service. She is a retired professional runner/USA Track & Field athlete, avid skier, horseman, and alpinist – most recently running a marathon on Mount Everest.
